This is the user guide to help with the installation of the AP2.
First step after removing the rear bumper is to assess the condition of the fixing points, if the bumper has been damaged in previous accident they might be broken off and need to be fixed before fitting the new brackets.
If the original screws are too far gone with the rust that the philips screw driver is just spinning around, I would recommend using Dremel tool or fine cutting disc to create slot for the flat screw driver to remove the original screw, there is no need to preserve the original screws as the kit is coming with new set of screws.
In case the head of the screw snaps off and leaves rest of the screw in the bumper fixing point, I would recommend to use soldering iron to heat the remainder of the screw, use the tweezers and carefully remove the remainder of the screw. If needs to be use the solder iron to shape the fixing point to it's original shape ready to receive new screw.
Fitting the brackets:
Place the side brackets first and insert the two 16mm screws, just leave them loose at this moment.
You might need to support the numberplate holder from the other side to secure the brackets in place.
Next is to assemble the long bracket from the 3 pieces.
There is no need to use any glue as once the bracket is in place they won't be able to get separated anyway.
Place the long bracket in the position and hand tight the screws, there is no necessary order, but inserting 16mm than 25mm and leave the 19mm as last makes the installation little bit easier.
Again keep the screws little loose.
Now position the rear number plate bracket in to the final position and start tightening the side brackets first.
Before doing so, make sure all of the screws are in to fitting points and not outside, all of the screws are straight and not from an angle.
The screws should be hand tighten, it isn't recommended to use power tool as there is risk of braking the fixing point or stripping the thread from it.
Now tighten the long bracket screws 16, 19 and 25, no particular order is needed to follow, but yet again be careful not to damage the fitting point.
Brackets are sturdy enough and you would damage the bumper fitting point before damaging the brackets.
Inspect the alignment of the numberplate holder and fit the bumper back to the car
